etc. The Shodasa Upacharas are performed. Shivopasana mantra is recited along
with recital of 1008 Namavali (names) of Lord Shiva.

The Bilva Patra leaves are regarded as the favorite of Lord Shiva. This pooja is
performed with the prescribed articles like flowers, coconut etc. The Shodasa
Upacharas are performed. Shivopasana mantra is recited along with recital of
108 Namavali (names) of Lord Shiva with 108 Bilva Patras.

3. Masa Shivaratri (Pradosha) Pooja (मास शिवरात्री (प्रदोष) पूजा ):
The thirteenth lunar tithi of Krishnapaksha, Krishna-Trayodasi is called Pradosha
and considered very auspicious. It is believed that Lord Shiva is at his happiest
during the Pradosha time and fulfils all desires of those who worship him during
this time and grants victory and success in all undertakings.

4. Rudrabhishekam Pooja (रुद्राभिषेकम् पूजा ):
This Pooja is one of the greatest Poojas to remove all evils, to attain all desires and
for all round prosperity. In this Pooja ais performed as per prescribed vedic rituals
such as Ganesha Pooja, Kalasha sthapana etc. The Shivopasana mantra and the
108 names of Lord Shiva are recited. Then Rudraashtadhyayi (from Yajurveda) is
recited and the Shiva Linga abhishekam is done with the prescribed ingredients
like water, milk, ghee, honey and gangajal etc. Normally this Pooja takes about
3-1/2 hours. This purifies the entire atmosphere.
