PANCH MAHABHOOTA and PLANETS

In Vedic civilization, everything in this universe is considered to be made up of FIVE ELEMENTS, called Panch Mahabhootas.  These are AGNI - The Fire, PRITHVI - The Earth, VAYU - The Air, JAL - The Water and AKASH - The Space.

Everything in the universe or the metaverse is made up of these five basic constituents, only the proportion varies.

In astrological parlance, these elements are represented by the following planets:

1. AGNI -                 The Fire -               Mars

2. PRITHVI -         The Earth -           Mercury.

3. VAYU -               The Air -                 Saturn

4. JAL -                    The Water -          Venus

5. AKASH -             The Space -          Jupiter

Lets understand these a little more:

1. AGNI

Fire is the ENERGY that symbolizes 'Creation', with its essence characterized by Form and its sense organ being the Eyes. It denotes a state of energetic vibrancy, with its primary characteristic being the upward surge of vitality and the delineation of form and structure. Fire embodies the pursuit of knowledge, authority, and purposeful action, igniting the flames of passion and innovation. In Vedic Astrology, the three Fire Rasis are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Mars, with its fiery demeanor and assertive energy, assumes the mantle of Fire's stewardship, guiding its transformative power towards constructive endeavors.

2. PRITHVI

Earth embodies the essence of 'Preservation', with its nature characterized by Smell and its sense organ being the Nose. Symbolizing a state of solidity, Earth epitomizes stability, nurturing, and the accumulation of resources. Earth's primary characteristic lies in its ability to take care of small things and nurture them into larger entities. In Vedic Astrology, the three Earth Rasis are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. Mercury, with its role as the harbinger of logic and learning, assumes the rightful stewardship of Earth, providing a foundation for the accumulation and preservation of knowledge and resources.

3. JAL

Water embodies the essence of 'Application', with its nature defined by Taste and its sense organ being the Tongue. Symbolizing a state of fluidity, Water epitomizes the universal solvent, fostering cohesion, synthesis, and the pursuit of pleasure. In Vedic Astrology, the three Water Rasis are Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. Venus, the celestial harbinger of joy and harmony, assumes the role of Water's stewardship, guiding its fluid essence towards the preservation and cultivation of happiness.

4. VAYU

Air, also referred to as Wind, embodies the essence of 'Movement'. Its nature is defined by Touch, with the Skin serving as its sense organ, symbolizing a state of gaseous fluidity. The hallmark of Air lies in its propensity for motion, manifesting in various forms such as collecting, holding, and distributing. In Vedic Astrology, the three Air Rasis are Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. Saturn, the furthest planet in the solar system and characterized by its windy temperament, assumes the role of Air's stewardship. Governed by Saturn, Air embodies the breath of life, orchestrating the rhythm of existence.

5. AKASH

Space, also known as Ether or Sky, epitomizes the concept of 'Availability'. Its essence resonates with Sound, with the Ears serving as its sense organ, symbolizing a state of boundless potential and emptiness. Space is characterized by its inherent ability to render things accessible, symbolizing the availability of vast expanses for growth and evolution. In Vedic Astrology, Space transcends specific planetary allocations, intertwining with every celestial house. Although no specific sign is allotted to Space, it is believed that every house embodies an element of Space within it. Given its association with wisdom and expansiveness, Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, assumes the role of Space's stewardship, guiding its essence towards enlightenment and the dissemination of knowledge.
